Discord, created in 2015, is an online instant messaging, VoIP and video conferencing social platform. Within the Discord platform a "server" refers to a community which consists of chatrooms, voice-channels and forums. A Discord server known as The Observatory exists as the main social hub for SCG.
Serving as the hub for SCG Social matters and events the Observatory hosts a variety of text and voice channels for users to converse. Topics range from general chitchat, gaming discussion, furry topics and more. While the Discord server has not outright replaced the Steam Community group chat it has been superseded in numerous ways
One Discord feature is events. These cards displays event info such as time-zone corrected event times, server join links and event info. Examples of events include Team Fortress 2 and VR Chat Nights.
Several roles are utilized in the server. Uses include distinguishing users such as admins, access control to channels, and managing ping notifications.
These roles distinguish users by adding a color to their name. Some allow them to stand out on the users sidebar in the Discord app.
Opt-in roles exist for notifications. These allow users to tailor their notifications for games they are interested in. Players can tag the group to ping others so they can start a game session. These alerting roles include:

Both Poe and Arty; were created by Rowedahelicon for automating SCG administrative tasks. For Example, Poe handles the community side such as events, daily community updates, and more. Arty however handles more serious and security matters such as user reports, moderation and handling posts in NSFW Art channel.
